These, along with a million other questions are what many people are inquisitive about.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a miraculous and unique cosmetic procedure that works on the principle of stimulating growth factors and proteins. Micro-needles punch holes in the targeted skin area which triggers the release of growth factors and essential proteins, which speeds up the process of healing. This as a result causes the initiation of skin rejuvenation and hair regrowth.

What is PRP?

PRP, which translates to Platelet Rich Plasma, is basically blood plasma which has a myriad of growth factors and proteins. It is derived from the blood of the person seeking PRP therapy, and when applied to the skin or hair, it leads to the process of skin and hair rejuvenation which facilitates growth.

How is PRP Prepared?

Platelet rich plasma has all the nutrients and growth factors in it without the blood cells. This is done by spinning the blood sample obtained from the patient in a centrifuge for roughly 15 minutes. This separates the dense components of the blood sample, making them settle at the bottom of the tube, leaving behind plasma which contains growth factors and collagen.

Microneedling with PRP

Microneedling works on its own by stimulating the release of growth factors and collagen to help aesthetically, but when combined with PRP it gives a lot better results. A session of microneedling would stimulate skin rejuvenation by punching minute holes in the skin. Combining it with PRP drives growth factors, proteins, and collagen deeper into the skin causing a two-fold effect as both therapies work synergistically giving faster and better results. PRP is prepared from the patient’s own blood and has negligible risk of being rejected by the patient’s body. This is why the risk of having an allergic reaction to the PRP is almost non-existent.

What Happens During Microneedling with PRP?

During a microneedling with PRP session, the aesthetician or dermatologist will apply a local anesthetic to numb the area of skin or scalp which is being treated. The treatment area is then pricked with tiny sterilized needles that puncture the skin creating tiny wounds. This so-called ‘injury’ stimulates the release of collagen, elastin and growth factors which rejuvenates, while also creating porosity in the skin so that the next step of PRP application works effectively. Then, PRP prepared from the patient’s own blood is applied onto the skin, and the tiny wounds take up the nutrients making the process of healing faster. This eliminates dark spots, wrinkles, acne scars, and fine lines; and it can also be used for hair regrowth.

After the application, a soothing balm is applied to the skin or scalp to minimize the redness or irritation.

What Should You Do Before a PRP Facial?

Our experienced professionals at Syra Aesthetics offer extensive consultation which is inclusive of measures that patients need to take a few days before their appointment to prevent complications and to maximize the effectiveness of the procedure.

However, some common safety steps that should be considered before a PRP facial are listed below:

  1. Use a good quality sunscreen to protect your skin from excessive sun exposure and also avoid professional tanning.
  2. Stay hydrated by consistently drinking water in good quantities a few days prior to your appointment.
  3. Avoid wearing makeup before coming for your PRP facial. Keep your face bare but cleansed and moisturized

What To Expect After
a PRP Facial?

Soon after the procedure, you may feel redness, irritation, and soreness, which is completely normal. Within the next day or two, skin flaking and dryness might be noticed, and the skin layers will start peeling off. Do not be alarmed by this, it just signifies that the facial worked. Within a week you will start noticing that the skin becomes smoother and radiant, while the soreness, flaking, and redness subsides. Keep your skin hydrated, moisturized, and protected from the sun by wearing sunscreen or a protective covering immediately after the procedure and avoid natural or chemical exfoliants as they can cause the skin to become dry and irritated.

Microneedling with PRP works effectively to smoothen the skin along with removing unwanted aging signs. It works even better when carried out by trained and experienced aestheticians.

At Syra Aesthetics, our veteran team of med spa experts take every precautionary measure to make sure that you have a refreshing and rejuvenating experience, without any complications.
